The 12 Days of Speakeasy: Day 9

It’s the end of the world as we know it? According to the Mayans it might be.  If 12/21/12 really is our last day on earth, we’ll probably need a few of these. Waking up hung over sure beats not waking up at all. Here’s to making it to Saturday brunch.

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love poured for me a:

Kamakazi

2 ounces Speakeasy vodka

1 ounce Cointreau

The juice of ½ a lime

Add all of the ingredients into shaker full of ice. Shake vigorously and pour. Makes 2 shots. Clink, drink, repeat.

Top o’ the Morning

Today is St. Patrick’s Day. To celebrate, most people will be chugging Irish Car Bombs and drinking excessive amounts of Guinness.  For all you pub goers, here’s an alternative to that predictable shot of Jameson you’re about to order.

The Pickle Back

1 ounce shot of Jameson or you favorite Irish whiskey

1 ounce shot of pickle brine

Garnish with a pickle (optional)

Originally created at Brooklyn’s Bushwick Country Club, the Pickle Back has developed a cult following. Particularly popular in New York, this combination adds a twist to your basic shot of whiskey.  Raise your glass, toast the Irish and then chase that whiskey burn with a pickle brine back.

If the idea of drinking pint after pint of beer leaves you feeling a little green, here’s a whiskey cocktail that’s sure to please even the pickiest leprechaun.

Irish Buck

2 ounces Irish whiskey

½ ounce lime juice

1 ounce (roughly) of Ginger Ale

Pour whiskey and juice over ice. Stir. Top off with Ginger Ale and garnish with a lime wedge. Serves one.

Happy St Patty’s Day!

The 12 Drinks of Christmas: Day 4

It’s Friday!

The day when we sneak out of the office early for happy hour or never come back after that (3 martini) lunch meeting. That wouldn’t fly on a Tuesday, Friday is a special day.  What better way to welcome the weekend than with a shot or two?

Here’s to your weekend, make it a good one!

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love poured for me a:

Washington Apple

1 part Crown Royal

1 part Apple Pucker

1 part Cranberry Juice

Combine all 3 parts in a shaker full of ice.  Shake and serve in a shot glass. Toast, clink, drink.
